[Optional] Connect to GitLab with an API Token

If you prefer to connect GitLab using an API Token, follow the instructions below.

1. In GitLab, navigate to User Settings -> Preferences -> Access Tokens and click Add new token.

2. Provide a Token name, remove the date from Expiration date (ie. the token should not expire) and select all checkboxes in Select scopes (or at a minimum, select api or read_api scopes).

3. Click Create personal access token and copy the token down.

Once you're done, head back to Apps in Violet (or Apps in VioletGov), click Show other authentication options, enter your token, and click Connect with API Token.
