# Clone Programs

Accelerate the development of your next program's requirements via Program Clones. Requirements and Verifications in Cloned programs are fully modifiable in the destination program; updates are not synchronized between programs. Newly cloned requirements and verifications will start at version 1 without comments or peer reviews.

If you want to grant collaborator access to view subsets of existing requirements, see [Shared Programs](/features/programs/shared-programs.md).

## Cloning Process

Navigate to the Programs page and find the origin program of interest, and click the Copy icon.

Complete the Clone Program form, selecting which aspects you'd like to copy into the destination program. Click **Clone Program** to begin the process.

All copied data can be modified from the destination program. If you opt not to inherit users and permissions, approvers will be cleared. If you'd like to retain a custom attribute but clear the entered values in the cloned program, toggle **Clone Value** to off.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.violetlabs.com/features/programs/clone-programs.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
